our First Steps
The first steps of our work can be traced back to May 13, 1907, when Bartholomäus Grossmann, as master mason, founded the construction company B. Grossmann in Weikering near Vogtareuth. Today, almost 118 years later, we are one of the oldest and largest companies in our industry in the Rosenheim district, leaving its mark throughout southern Bavaria and in some cases throughout Germany.

Where it all began…
On May 13, 1907, master bricklayer Bartholomäus Grossmann laid the foundation stone in Vogtareuth for the construction company B. Grossmann. He founded the company with genuine pride in his craft, courage and a vision. Even then, quality, reliability and a love of construction were the focus.

1920-1930
Off to Rosenheim!
With growing success, the construction business moved to Rosenheim. The acquisition of a plot of land with its own railway siding was a milestone and is still the company’s headquarters today. This decision shows: Foresight and investment in the future were already part of our company’s DNA back then.

The change of generations
The second generation took over: Josef and Emeran Grossmann continued to run the company as a limited partnership.
1960
Expansion with grounding
The founding of the civil engineering, road construction and bridge construction department brought new growth. This division developed into a high-turnover department. Always with us: our aim to find the right solution for every project and at the same time not to lose our footing.
1963-1979
Innovation across the board
We were one of the first construction companies to set new standards in timber construction with the “Large Glue Permit” and the “Glued Timber Construction Quality Mark”. The construction of the first bitumen mixing plant in Munich marked further progress. A new heating center, drying chamber and a production line expanded our timber construction department.

1992-2002
Handover to the third generation
When the third generation joined the company in 1992, an important foundation stone for the future was laid at Grossmann Bau. Step by step, the new shareholders took on responsibility and grew into their roles, accompanied by experience, trust and a clear eye for continuity. In 2002, overall entrepreneurial responsibility passed completely to the third generation. Proven values were retained, while at the same time new impetus was provided. The result is an understanding of leadership that consistently combines tradition and further development.

1998-1999
New form, proven substance
The change of name to Grossmann Bau GmbH & Co KG gave the company a new legal structure. The signature of the Grossmann family and the values of the company remained unchanged. We continued to expand with a third production hall for glued laminated timber construction.

2007

A century of construction history – celebrated with everyone who has accompanied us along the way: Customers, employees, partners. This anniversary was not just a look back, but above all a look forward to everything that was yet to come.

Investments for quality
Renting a new production hall, investing in a CNC system, building a formwork washing hall and a new bitumen mixing plant in Schwabering. All of this underlines our commitment to delivering the highest quality and actively shaping technological developments. For our customers. For our future.

2016
Relay baton passed on
After more than 30 years of successful management in building construction, civil engineering and turnkey construction, Elias Laar retired. With Siegfried Huber, the next generation takes over. Ready to break new ground and carry the company’s values into a modern future.

2020-2023
Sustainability rethought
A new chapter has been opened with extensive investment in glued laminated timber construction and the renovation of the production halls. This also shows that our innovative spirit is deeply rooted in traditional craftsmanship. We are investing in a new combined heat and power plant to supply energy.

2024
Passing on with foresight
After 24 years as Managing Director, Gerold Tönjes retired from the glued laminated timber construction business. His successor, Matthias Götz, has taken over this area. Our management team consists of Thomas Knauer, Siegfried Huber and Matthias Götz.

our Machines
We have the right equipment for every construction project! In addition to more than 70 construction machines such as excavators and wheel loaders, our fleet includes 20 crew buses, several low loaders and 20 cranes. We also have a wide range of machines from the field of road construction technology: We have pavers, rollers and a Vögele feeder in our ranks to be equipped for every civil engineering project.
