Timber Construction

The Project

Extension and expansion of the headquarters of the Deutscher Alpenverein (DAV) in Munich

German Timber Construction Award 2023

A successful transformation of a traditional office building into a contemporary quarter – with low-tech and a sophisticated ventilation concept.

As part of the renovation, the building was extended by two stories in timber construction with composite wood-concrete ceilings and a flat roof. The core zone with elevator and staircase were also constructed in timber in the two new stories.

In the north, the building was extended by an atrium with a staircase open over all floors. The ground floor was extended with a conference room in the garden area on

the west side of the building. The building received a new timber post-and-beam facade, and a timber structure approximately 1.5m deep was erected in front of it on the west and east sides over 4 stories.

The DAV project – Extension and expansion of an office building in Munich – was awarded the German Timber Construction Award in 2023.
