The Project
The Integrated comprehensive school Rinteln, Lower Saxony, has received a new 2-story school building in timber frame construction with a usable area of 7,250m². Around 2,350m³ of wood are used in the timber frame construction of the exterior walls with internally visible spruce 3-layer panels, as well as the interior walls and upper floor ceilings made of cross-laminated timber. The ceilings of the ground floor are made of wood-concrete composite consisting of wooden beams and precast concrete elements (visible).
A larch cladding with projecting pilaster strips forms the attractive facade in a regular grid of 1.65m, which also frames four courtyards. The fire protection requirements are also solved with visible wood. The wood used is local spruce or larch, 100% PEFC-certified.
