Penzberg Printing Center

Turnkey Construction

The Project

The Penzberg printing center, which we completed back in 2013, has been undergoing expansion and renovation by Grossmann Bauer since last year while operations continue. After the expansion is commissioned, the printing and finishing machinery in the existing building will be gradually replaced. This always involves interventions in the building structure. Foundations have to be modified for the new machines, walls have to be broken through, roof structures have to be supplemented, etc.

In addition to the structural work, we also carry out the steel construction, the complete building envelope and the turnkey interior finishing. Demolition work and specialist deep foundations are also included in our scope of services.

Construction:
  • Foundation with vibration-free displacement concrete columns, reinforced concrete solid construction, in the hall area as a precast reinforced concrete structure with prestressed concrete girders, steel purlins, steel trapezoidal sheet metal roof support shell with standing seam metal roofing.
  • Facade with large-format steel MW sandwich panels and aluminum window elements
  • Solid core interior walls Rd=2.0, PR interior facades with sound insulation requirements
  • Floor structure mostly as a raised floor system in the control room and office area
  • Hall with magnesite industrial screed
Special features
  • VBS columns installed with a 19m drilling rig in the existing hall directly next to the printing press during operation. This was necessary for the expansion of the printing press foundation.
  • Storm-proof temporary weather protection wall up to 22m high in the printing press hall, 2m next to the running printing press.
  • 22m high, free reinforced concrete walls in the printing press hall
  • Full-surface steel secondary support grid in the hall area, suspended from the roof structure to support the newspaper conveyor belts
  • Panel facade with large-format, flat 6m Trimo QbissElements
Key data
  • Execution period: July 2023 – May 2025
  • Concrete volume: 1,500 m3 cast-in-place concrete
  • Reinforcing steel: 300 tons
  • Precast reinforced concrete elements: columns, transfer beams, prestressed concrete girders
